Both of Chester's grandmothers were widowers who remarried. The Witt family lived at 3246 North Hamlin in Chicago before moving to Duffy lane in Deerfield (around 1950). He tried to teach Lillian to drive many times, but failed each time. He started out at Mojonnier Brothers as an install man for refrigerator equipment in 1928. His father, John, had already been working there for four years. He had sold, designed (obtaining many patents worldwide), and implemented bottling and carbonating mixers before retiring. Some of his travels took him to Europe, South East Asia, China, Japan, Austrailia, and South America. At the time of his retirement in 1976 Chester was the Superintendent of the Research and Development Department. When asked "Why Retire to Searcy?" he replied that he found Searcy when hiring a man from the area. He really liked the fact that the climate was mild and "There wasn't a lot of old folks around." Honored in the WWII Memorial Registry of Remembrances at http://www.wwiiregistry.org (under Chester Witt) When baptized in 1944, his sponsers were John Januszewski and Catherine Wiwatowski.
