Andrew began working as an office boy at American Woolen Co. on July 24, 1899 in the Ames Building Boston, headquarters of the general manager, E. P. Chapin. He became an assistant manager at age 25 and was transferred to the Wood mill in Lawrence. The Wood mill was the world's largest worsted plant at the time.
In 1929 Andrew left American Woolen to go with L. Bachmann & Co. as manager and half owner of the Pontoosuc mill in Pittsfield Mass. He
soon sold the mill.
On May 1, 1931 Andrew returned to American Woolen to take charge of a group of mills.
Andrew was written about in Fortune Magazine. He wanted to move the mills to the south because of cheaper labor.
At the time of Andrew's retirement (September 1st, ????) he had a home in Palm Beach, Florida. Also rented a cottage on New Foundland Lake.
